hello doc,
Pls advise me.
My daughter is now 14 months old and weighs 9.3 kg(birth weight 3.2 kg) Is this weight too low for her? How can I increase her weight?
Also she has this bronchopnuemonia the 3rd time for the year.she was on a course of augmentin es600 2 weeks ago and this past weekend the gp did xrays and says she has it again but did not prescirbe anitbotics. but said i must just nebulise her with pulmicort and duolin drps and continue with singulair that she has been since May 2010. Her fever was high over the w/end but it has come down and today she don''t have fever. but her chest is stil phelgmy and she is stil coughing. her nose is stil running. Pls advise on what route must I take with the meds. Wil the singulair not have long term side affects and what exacty is this for?

Your little daughter is having far too many severe chest infections, three this year already. Is she at a creche? If she is she must be removed from the creche and must be cared for at home. Most of her chest infections are probably caused by viral infections. Singulair is a treatment to prevent asthma, but it has also been found to reduce the frequency of virus chest infections in young children. It is usually a very safe medicine.Your daughter is now recovering from her latest chest infection. Keep her nose clear with saline nose drops, give her Mucospect to clear her chest of mucous and also a probiotic to boost her immunity and deal with the effects of her latest antibiotic.
