Colic and gas/winds medicines

My 6 week old baby has lots of trouble with wind/gas - he has never burped really from day one, but farts out the wind all the time. i was told this is fine, as long as it is coming out! During the day is fine, but after the middle of the night feed I have a problem with him in that he appears to find the winds painful, cries and cannot resettle back to sleep. This means that every night i end up for hours trying to help him get rid of the wind and then soothing him back to sleep. I have recently been using Bennets colic mixture - giving to him every night and this seems to help him in the middle of the night. What I want to know is firstly, is it okay and safe to give him this every night from now on and secondly, is it okay for him to get this kind of mixture, along with telement drops, gripe water etc and even infant buscopan - all at the same time - or is this overload or mixing of medicines dangerous?

Your baby seems to be having a problem called lactose intolerance rather than colic. He is getting far too many medicines most of which have the same ingredients. You do not say how he is being fed. It would be best to try him on a lactose free formula such as NAN LF.
