Q.

Circumcision

Dr, my boy (aged 4yr) need to be circumcised because of medical reasons (4 dr gave the same opinion!). We have been told that there is a risk of developing gangreen (?) with this operation. I also read about other side-effects and things that could go 'wrong'. I'm very afraid now, but my boy is in alot of pain because of repeated infections.....I do have a good urologist with plenty of pediatric experience....I'm just so scared....Is this a save operation?

The operation is very safe and is regarded as a minor operation. Complications like gangrene only occur when the circumcision is not done in a hygienic environment and is not done in a hospital. Please do not worry. I note that you have a sound medical reason for the operation.
