Child''s broken jaw:

Good day,
I would just like to know, if possible, how common is it for a small child to fall over and break their jaw in 3 different places?
Age group:18 months.

Thank you

I have never ever heard of such a bad injury in a young child resulting from a fall.I am highly suspicious that this is a non-accidental injury [child abuse] to this little child. This child must be seen by a paediatrician ASAP and social services should be informed.

This is too frightening. At 18 months, how much pain must this baby be in. Please do something for the sake of these chidlren, especially given your suspicions.
I''m surprised that the doctor may have just treated, without further concerns, unless the mother is really convincing.
Please do not keep quite about this, children are under our protection and if their parents can''t protect them, then its up to us, the outsiders, to stand for them.

I have known the parents for about 10 years now, I personally I do believe that this is NOT an accident. I have asked quite a few people regarding the fact that she walked into a wall. Why wasnt the child strapped into the stroller and also with what force would you have to walk into a wall to do such damage?!

The doctor treating her was able to insert two cables at break one and two.Which are located at the front of the jaw,but was unable to insert a wire at break three( bone by the ear) as the bone is too soft/fragile.

My heart breaks for this child, who has two older siblings.I fear that she will get away with this and that maybe all three of them are being abused and everyone is simply turning a blind eye. :''(

PLease contact Child welfare, because how hard did she walk into the wall!?
What are the doctors who treated this child saying? How well do you know the parents, to know if they would do this to their child.
Some babies at 18 months can be challenging, who know, maybe she did lose it?...

Thanks Doc,

According to the mother, she " accidently"  walked into the corner of a wall with the stroller causing the jaw to break on three different places.

Would you suggest I contact social services?

Thanks again!
