Q.

Child in house during suicide

My 3 yr old, was in the house when my landlady's son hanged himself in the garage, we live in the outbldg, he heard how they were trying to break down the door when trying to get into the garage, the noise gives me nightmares so i can only imagine what it has done to him, since then i have noticed a change in his behaviour, he has become very aggresive and he can't sleep at night, he also does not want to be alone in any of the rooms, can you recommend something i can give him to calm him.

This is not a simple problem and sedatives alone are not the answer. Your son has been through a very frightening experience. He may need to be evaluated by a child psychologist.

I'd suggest you take him to see a psychologist.

rescue remedy can be used with young children - it does have a teensy amount of alcohol in it though so some mothers don't like it.
