cereal only

Dear Doc ,
my boy is 5 months today, last week i discovered that my mom had been feeding him cereals 2 tiimes daialy and i was upset as I had planned on starting him at 7 months,
he''s a big baby weighing 8.1 kg 4 weeks ago. I wanted to know If i can continue on cereal only until he''s 6 month s then introduce veges n fruits, or am i obliged to introduce him to veges now that he started on cereal.

secondly is it true that big babies are likely to be asthmatic? this is my biggest fear, that''s why i wanted to start him later.

The average weight for a baby boy of 6 months is 8kg. So your baby is not overweight. He could certainly start on solids at the age of 6 months. Overweight babies are more likely to have wheezy chest illnesses such as asthma, but your baby is not overweight.
