Q.

Can mom's help with advise on eczema

I would appreciate input on your experiences on eczema and how you treated it or overcame it. My baby is seven months old and has now been on Cortisone for the second time and it does not seem to keep it away when i am not using it.

My child had it as well. The Pead prescribed Elidel cream (bit expensive) but last long if kept in fridge. Put some on the affected areas how many times a day as required. Eventually it will dissappear, its wonderful stuff. Then no soaps etc. use only Epimax cream after bath.

Hi, my son is now 3years old and had eczema when he was 3months old. I changed his milk to only soya and bathed him in clean water with a rooibos teabag, also I used Annique products which is also rooibos products. His eczema went away after the 3rd bath. The products isnt very expensive and really works. Someone also told me you can use Dove soap to wash your baby.

My daughter also had eczema at about the same age. She was allergic to Infasoy which we discovered later on. Something that also works is A-Derma you get the bar of soap as well as the lotion. I have used epizone and so forth but nothing helped. I bathed her for a week only in clean water with the soap and lotioned her body once a day only for a week and obviously we stopped the Infasoy and then it was gone. It still appears sometimes when I bath her in bubble bath or use any other type of soap or lotions. Shame my daughter have never smelt like a baby.

eczema is quite distinct, it is small patches of "rough" looking skin. It goes red when inflamed.
my baby of 13 months also has that fine pimply, non-itchy rash over upper torso and sometimes cheeks, don't think that is eczema though, it looks completely different. Have you had your baby diagnosed with eczema?

hi, my daughter is 3 1/2 and has eczema. We use epimax cream on her every night, all over her body, you have to keep them well moisturised. If the eczema starts, we first use advantan, and as a last resort, elocon cream, which works very well. Don't use bubble baths, scented lotions and the like.
