Childhood Diseases

Hi Doc,

Last night i was reading through the Cal-C-Vita pamphlet and came across the dosage reccommendations.

they say that children between the age of 4 - 8 can take half a tablet daily.

i just wanted to check this with you first before i decide on allowing my child to take this. she has the flu and i thought that the vita C would be good for her, but i am also worried if it would not be too much for her system. she is 6, soon to be 7 (Dec)

feedback from you or any of the moms out there would be great

You don't need to give this to your little girl. The doses of Vitamin A in particular may be too high for a child. If you feel that it is necessary to give her vitamins, ask your pharmacist for a good children'e vitamin supplement.

HI, you can look at Viral Guard Junior Syrup. which i find works well. or Jungle Vites chewable tables - you get a Vitamin C one, or a Mulitvit. this my daughter (3) also likes.
in general you can look at every now and then giving her a probiotic for a couple of days at a time (a week or 10 days). this will help boost her immune system. the thing is with any vitamin supplement, you need to give it for about a month before you can really see an effect. but also have periods in between where they get a break from taking it.
good luck!
