Paediatrician

Night time incontinence is a common problem and it is important to have a very structured approach to try and sort this out. Beating him or just giving medicine will not solve the problem. Your paediatrician will be the best person to assist.

From your posting I'm not sure if he has a problem with urine incontenance or feacal incontenance. If it is urine then do a web surch on "diurnal enuresis" and if it is feacal then do a search on "encopresis" for more info and ideas to help your child at home.

Hi Kabelo,
Am very happy to hear that you are no longer beating him for this problem.
If he does do it again, dont shout at him. Let him clean up his own mess, and tell him that you love him very much but he is a big boy now and must use the toilet.
What medicine did the doctor prescribe for you? and what does the doctor say is the problem?
Give him lots and lots of love. Maybe reward him with a sweet or something when he does go to the toilet. Tell him that if he goes to the toilet for the whole week you will buy him a big bag of sweets (or another little something) that he really wants.
I am so glad that you have realised that beating him only makes things a lot worse. Good luck.

yes i did take him to the doctor, she said the same thing that i must stop beating him,
she suggest that i should make a time table for him, ticking how many times he went to the toilet. i think it does help him. since he came from the doctor he hasn't incontinit himself.
i hope some mothers will learn from me that beating a child does not help to solve the problem.
i do regret that i did not bother to talk to him first. he is taking medication that the doctor prescribe for him.
i will keep you posted with the progress that he is making as we go along the way.
in two weeks time he will have to go to the therapist at hospital.
will see how it goes.
thank you for your advice.

It could well be a medical problem, but with your beating him it could also be related to stress.
Dont beat the poor child. Take him to the doctor. If it is not medical sort it out from there. Beating him is only going to make him do it even more.
