MY friends baby is teething and she has blood in her stools, a gp told her this is normal, please be so kind as to inform me to the correct answer. Is it normal for a baby to have blood in their poop when they are teething?

This is definitely not normal and no baby should pass blood in their stools. Teething certainly will not cause a baby to pass blood in the stools. There are several possible causes for a baby passing blood in the stools and it is very important indeed to find out exactly what is causing this problem.Your friend's baby should be seen by a paediatrician.

Thank you for the Reply on my Question. I will surely advise her to take her child to a Paediatrician. She had the child at the hospital yesterday, and the doctor at the Hospital also told her that it''s normal for the child to have blood in her stools due to the teething.

Teething and poo are not related - so teething does not cause a runny tummy and definitely doesn''t cause blood in the poo.

Blood in the poo is always something that should be checked out, your friend should take her child to the peadiatrician or if she can''t afford that, to a different GP.
It can be something that isn''t serious at all, like a little tear in the anus (which is painful for baby), but it is just best to let the doctor check it out.

s/he''ll need to know if it is red blood or if it is much darker in colour. Maybe a photo on her cell phone of the nappy with blood in it would be helpful.
