Blocked nose when sleeping

My baby is 4 and a half months old. At 3 months he started sleeping through the night, but for the past 3 weeks he has been getting up a few times in the night, because his nose is blocked and hence balltes to breathe properly. I have been using salex drops since he was born (The paed said his nasal passage was too dry hence the drops), and I make use of his humidifier, but recently it's been so hot that I am afraid the using the humidifier during the hot nights will do him more harm than good. Is there anything else that I can do, as it is frustrating to both me and him, when he gets up crying as a result of a blocked nose.

There are more potent medicines to keep a baby's nose open at night, but these should only be used for short periods of time when it is truly needed. I think you are doing all the right things and it should resolve with time. The humidifier is probably unnecessary.

Hi

Try Elizabeth Anne's Vapour Rub.

My boy was born in June, so he had a blocked nose to begin with.

You can also use drops you can buy at a chemist. Drop a few drops on his pillow or blanket.

Unfortunately there isn't anything else you can try, because he is too young for some of the other medications.

You can also try a little bit (and by that I mean very little) of Vicks, mixed with Vaseline and rub it on his chest. Only try this if the Vapour Rub doesn't work for him.

Good luck.
