Blocked and snotty noses

HI doc,
My boys are 10 months and 5 yrs. Baby cut his first teeth 2 weeks ago and is not really unhappy with the teething.
However I find he is still getting blocked and snotty nose after the winter. It clears up for a week or so, then starts again.
The older child seems to have a constant snotty nose too, and I assume he''s getting this from the baby and they are passing it to each other, as they are at ceche and pre-school.
Over a month ago I took baby to the pead who prescribed just flixonase and this helped. But how frequently can I use this on baby?
I am using sterimar nasal spray for baby several times a day. I find Illiadin causes him to become chesty?
What can I use to clear the older child''s nose?
What else can I use on baby as I''ve had many sleepless nights due to the blocked nose?
Thanking you in advance - R

The problem here appears to be that both your children are at a creche or pre-school where they are picking up one cold after another. As they both have virus infections causing their nasal symptoms, they should not be using Flixonase. Flixonase is for nasal allergy and in any case is not permitted for babies under 1 year.Saline nasal sprays are the safest. So continue either with the Sterimar nasal spray for both or try Salex nose drops for your baby. He may benefit more from using saline nose drops rather than a spray. If his nose is full of mucus it may help to suck this out with a nasal suction device [ask your pharmacist]
