Biting Todz

Hope you will be able to help.

The child is in a class with 13 other children between the ages of 15months and 26 months. They have 3 teachers attending to them, so are watched in small groups.

The problem is that the children is at that biting stage, it’ s understandable that there will always be biting with this age group, but it seems to be getting worse and worse.

Is there anyone that can suggest a way for the parents and teachers to teach the children not to do this?

Any suggestions would help.

This is indeed a very common problem but it is not acceptable that children attending a day care centre bite other children there. It is quite difficult to deal with very young biters but from about 15 months they can learn that they must stop biting other children. If a child bites anyone that child must immediately be removed from the group and kept on their own.If the child does not learn to stop biting the parents should be requested to remove the child from the day care centre.
