Q.

Bald patch on head

My 3-year old had a patch of scabs on his head (R5 coin size) and I scratched it off, the hair came off and put cortisone ointment on for three days. The skin seemed healed. I thought at the time he must have fell on his head at school. It is now a month later and the skin has turned dry and reddish, with another small scab. It seems as if some hair is growing back, but not prolific. Do you have an idea whether this is a skin bacterial or fungal infection and what is to be done about it ?

This seems to be a fungal scalp problem called tinea. It is necessary to see your doctor to have this treated properly.
