Bad sleeper - 20 month old

My 20 month old daughter was a very good sleeper till about 1 year of age, since then we have really been struggling, some nights she is up every hour.

How can we get this right? She is in a routine, tried moving her from her cot to her toddler bed. She eats well during the day. We are limiting sugar intake after 4 pm. Mostly she falls asleep easily but we struggle from about 11 pm at night.

There are at least 4 possible reasons for your daughter suddenly starting to wake so often during the night. If she goes to sleep with you rubbing her back or holding her she may wake during the night to find this is not still happening. So let her fall asleep on her own or extend the time before she goes to sleep by 30 minutes. She may fuss for a night or two but will get used to this. If she is used to being fed at night this is often the main cause for frequent wakings.Reducing her feeds slowly night after night is the best way to overcome this Other causes include having a blocked nose or acid reflux. If your child snores or if you suspect she may have reflux she needs to see a paediatrician. The last possibility is the actual environment, the TV being on, traffic or other noise or an uncomfortably hot bedroom.
