bad nappy rash

Hi doc

My baby has a bad case of nappy rash, it is even bleeding and I think its due to him teething. I have been using vaseline and zinc and castor ointment but nothing seems to be helping. What else can I use.

You do not mention your baby's age. His nappy rash is not caused by teething.Has your baby had an antibiotic lately? It is possible that your baby has a candida nappy rash as his rash does not respond to the zinc and castor ointment which is usually very effective.Give your baby a good probiotic such as Reuterina drops 5 drops daily for 10 days. Apply Nystatin cream at least 3 times daily to his nappy area. It will also help to give him a zinc supplement such as Zinplex syrup every day. If his rash does not clear after 5 days try to get Antipeol nappy cream or the new form of this nappy cream.
