Q.

Bad breath

This past week my little boy of 2 and a half developed really bad breath. Even after brushing his teeth - 2 minutes later it smells again. He has a post nasal drip. And he' s also been coughing and has a mucus-sy nose.

What could be the cause of this? Could it be his tonsils?

Thanks for your time.

Young children should not have bad breath. The usual cause is chronic mouth breathing due to a blocked nose.Other common causes are tonsil infections and tooth decay. Your son could well have infected tonsils and should be seen by his doctor.
