Q.

Baby talk

Good Day Doctor

My son is 10 months old but does not do much baby talk. When he was 7 to 8 months old he could say, tata, etc.

He has since been to hospital twice, once because he had the adenovirus and the second to have grommets put in.

Since then he has been very quite. We don't know if the hospital experience was too traumatic and that is why he does not want to baby talk much.

At 10 months, if he is not talking much, should we start worry or could it just be that he is a late developer.

Many Thanks

Although it is ossible that your baby son's speech devlopment was affected by being admitted to hospital, there is nothing to worry about . He wil start talking again. He was imitating speech sounds originally. He will start using words like Dada, Mama specifically at around 12 months
