Q.

Baby stuff

My baby is now 3 months old. He is sucking his fists alot and drooling a hell of a lot. Does this mean he can be teething already. What can i give him to help him, as he is still to young to hold the teething ring we bought him.

He has had fhlem in the back of his throat since about 4 weeks old, we have tried a few things, now on a nebuliser. How could we get that to go away.

He sleeps after his feed for about 45 minutes, then is awake for 3 hours before his next feed, is that alright, how could i get him to sleep longer.

At what age can we start giving baby rooibos tea to drink during the day? Also, he is on Isomil 1 at the moment, on the 120ml feed. It does not seem to be enough for him, he gets hungry 2 hours after that again. I could make te 180ml, but then that is too much for him. From what age is the Isomil 2 supposed to be used. When can we start to give him the first baby rice, is 3 months still to young. He weighs now about 6kg.

Your advise in the above is much appreciated.

It is very difficult for me to help you without being able to see your baby. He could well be teething already. He does not need a teething ring at this stage. He may be having a problem with reflux which may be causing the constant phlegm that you complain of.Please ask your paediatrician about this possibility. He is too young for rooibos tea but he does not seem happy on Isomil. Why is he on a soya formula? If he is not allergic to milk he should be on a formula for hungry babies such as Lactogen.

Hallo
My baby is 11 months old and I did not give him rooibos tea at all because a dr told me it is not good for babies. Is this true and from what age can I give rooibos tea and do I have to give him rooibos tea? He drinks his milk and I give him Vegetable juice and water in between.

HAVE YOU CHECKED TO SEE IF HE IS LACTOSE INTOLARENT. THIS COULD BE WHY HE HAS PHLEM. IF I GOT MY SON AT THAT AGE TO SLEEP THAT LONG, I WAS LUCKY. ALL CHILDREN ARE DIFFERENT. TRY TO START INTRODUCING SLEEPING TIMES. EVEN IF HE DOESNT SLEEP. STILL PUT HIM DOWN FOR A NAP. I STARTED INTRODUCING A TEASPOON OF PORRIDGE TO XAVIERS MILK WHEN HE WAS 4 MONTHS.
