Baby of 11 months old with rash on face and frequent poo

Hello Our baby boy developed an eczema type rash on his face after having a nasty stubborn viral infection. He now suffers from frequent bowel motions too, though these are usually light brown and soft formed. His bottom is getting sore as a result. Our local family doctors do not seem to be doing anything. We started him on Infasoy as he had a bought of lactose intolerance previously after another nasty infection this time it was a diarrhoea bug.
I am worried that our little chap is developing a nasty allergy to something. please help as in the UK it seems to take for ever for a doctor to be found who knows what they''re doing.

I agree with you that your baby is probably allergic. He seems to have an eczema rash on his face. His frequent stools may be due to a food allergy in particular to milk or wheat. It would be a good idea as a precaution to stop all fruit juice if he is having any to drink. Keep him on a wheat free diet, he can have a rice cereal instead.See how he progresses on the soya formula. If his loose stools continue try him on a low allergy cow's milk fomula such as NAN HA2.Ask your GP to refer you to a paediatric allergy unit.
