Baby not sleeping properly

My grandson will be 8 months old on the 23rd.

He has not slept through since birth. My daughter has to get up at least 3 times a night. He moans and sometimes screams. He has got into the habit at his chreche to fall asleep with a bottle in his mouth and will only go back to sleep once he has the bottle. He moves his arms alot and tend to knock the bottle out and cries to have it put back.

Anything she can try to get him into a better/longer sleeping pattern.

It is possible that your baby grandson's sleep problems are caused by acid reflux. The symptoms you describe seem to be pointing in this direction. Please have him seen by a paediatrician.

I find with my baby that if she only has a few naps in the day she sleeps through, your grandson could be sleeping too much in the day while he is at creche and this could be a contributing factor, maybe your daughter could ask them to ensure that he doesn't sleep to much, babies also find it very comforting to fall asleep with their bottle and it can easily become a habit, I also think that your daughters baby is far to young to be left holding the bottle by himself, it should still be held for him. I found that a book by Sister Lilian helped a lot, do a search online and I am sure you will find it, she is based in Pretoria I think and actually has a clinic there. Hopefully this has been of some help, fortunately for me my baby stays at home with me as I work from home so it has been a little easier to get her into a good routine.
