Q.

Baby keeps getting infections - what can I do?

I'm so tired. My 1 year old keeps getting sick, almost every 3 weeks she's on antibiotics. First she had pneumonia, was in hospital for 3 days, then she had a cold, now she's got tonsillitis and ear infections. The pediatrician had her blood tested, nothing wrong except a mild iron deficiency. She takes iron drops and Vidalin every day. What can I give her to help her immune system. It is not even winter and she's already so sick. We can't even go out anymore, we're too afraid she'll catch a cold again.

This problem is very common in young children as they adjust to all the various viruses in particular-especially in infants attending a creche. If her immune system is normal and her immunoglobulins are normal [check with your doctor]she will eventually grow out of this pattern of repeated infections. She is too young to use Viral choice junior. The iron and vitamins are a good choice for now. If she is at a creche perhaps you should rather keep her at home.
