Q.

Baby is drinking too little

My baby is now 5 and a half months. She is on formula and still drinks every 3 hours, at night as well. She only drinks around 100ml and refuse to drink more. I have given her rice porridge (2 spoons) before she goes to bed in the evening, which she ate, but she still woke up 3 hours later and drank only a little milk. What can I do to up her intake? She weighs between 5.5 and 6 kg.

Regards

Paediatrician

The average weight for your baby at her age is 7.5kg, so she is certainly well below her expected weight [below the 3rd percentile].There does not appear to be an obvious reason for her taking so little formula and this is certainly not due to excessive solids intake.I suggest that you take your baby to be seen by a paediatrician.
