Q.

baby irritated by something?

when he sleeps he moves his head from side to side, sometimes frantically as if something is irritating him - perhaps his nose? or his face is itchy? i'm not sure...
then he rubs his face with his hands.
i has had some baby eczema recently but seems to be cleared up now... ? with the help of simply using Vaseline and aqeous cream.
what do u think is the cause of him moving his head - left to right - so frantically? he's 11 week s old now
please help...

It seems as if his nose is blocked or itchy. This may be due to an allergy and this is more likely as he has eczema which is an allergic skin condition. He will benefit from using Salex nasal drops twice daily. If this does not help he may need an antihistamine medicine such as Allecet syrup.

My baby boy's 4 months old now and does the same. I've found that he does this when he's about to wake up. Would like to know from paed why they do this. My mom thought at first that he might have a headache. But he does this more that once a day.

Hi Kat,

My little one rubs his face when his nose is congested. I use saline drops in his nose.
