Baby and car seat

My daugther is 9 and a half months old. She weighs almost 9kg. She' s been in her " car seat"  (the one that you use with the pram) from birth always facing backwards. She' s getting to big for it now. I have a proper car seat for her. When can i put her facing front? I dont want to cause a risk for her neck and back if we had to be in a accident.

I second this question...please give some advice on when it' s really safe. My son is almost 8 months old and can sit well, but gets wobbly when he gets distracted. Will he be able to handle sitting in " the big seat" ? He' s now way too long to be facing backwards, but I wasn' t sure if he' d be ok so I haven' t changed it.
