This is a very good and very important question that you have asked. It is most unlikely if not impossible that your 7 week old baby has asthma or indeed can be dignosed as having asthma at his age.I presume that your baby was wheezing when he was examined by the paediatrician. The most likely cause is an infection by a virus called RSV and the illness is called bronchioloitis. In babies of this age it is important to look for other causes of wheezing as well and it would be best if your baby was seen by a paediatric pulmonologist so that the correct diagnosis can be made.
