Q.

Anus pain

Hi Doc
My son just turned 3yrs and is 12kg (underweight - already checked by doc and he is fine). He recently has been complaining about bum pains for the 6 weeks.
I have given him vermox however he still says to me that his bum is paining and he points at the anus.
He does poo daily without problems.
He recently also seems to complain about a tummy ache.
Any ideas what could be wrong with him?
He is asthmatic, at creche, very active.

The most likely cause for this complaint in a young child is a pinworm infection. A pinworm infection is usually easily treated by using Vermox.Give him a single dose [5ml] of Vermox Syrup and then repeat the same single dose of 5ml 10 days later. If after the second dose he is still complaining about this pain he should be seen by a doctor.
