Q.

anemia?

My 3 year old is gets pale from time to time. Recently she had a cold that still seems to be ligering. She is pale again and complains that sheis tired. Although her sleeping patterns are very sporadic, and her eating habits arn't very good, what i mean is she does not like veggies. She suffers from contipation and her stools are hard and quite dark. I wonder if she has an iron deficiency, how would i know if she has worms?

We would aqdvise that a child is regularly dewormed at this aqe and your doctor can easliy test for anaemia. The most important thing is that you must establish a healthy, balanced diet.

With regards to anaemia, you should take your daughter to her paediatrician/family doctor, where they can conduct a simple blood test to find out if she is anaemic - the solution(an iron tonic) is simple and works fast.

You should be deworming your child every 6 months regardless of wether she shows symptoms of having worms present in her stools or not. Vermox syrup is available from all pharmacies without a prescription and is reasonably priced.
