Am so worried - please help

My son is 2 years 5 months. He has been in his own bed for a while but will still come through to our bed at night, we take him back and he normally settles. He has been a bit horsy for a couple of days but when I ask him if his throat is sore, he sais no. Last night he woke up at 12pm screaming,,,, he was running around, jumping, he did not know what to do, it was very scary and it upset me. We did everything but could not console him at all. At about 2am, he settled and wanted grapes, which we gave him. He sat there saying that his ankle was sore and he was rubbing his feet. He only went back to sleep at about 3:30am. We almost rushed him to the hospital as he would not stop screaming and I am so scared that something is wrong. I gave him 4ml of Panado as I thought that maybe his throat was sore. What could the problem be, should I take him to his Paed. Im so worried....

Your son probably had a bad dream. He has only had this once so he is not getting regular night terrors which are very common at his age. You should just go to him if he wakes and settle him and then immediately leave his room. See that his nose is clear now by using a saline nasal spray such as Sterimar for children as he may have a bit of a post-nasal drip causing his slight hoarseness.
