Q.

Allergex and Panado Syrup

Hi Dr.

Thank you for the advice on my last post in regards to my baby girl teething.
My mother-in-law had gone to the pharmacy yesterday to get some pain meds for my daughter and the pharmacist had said that we must mix the same amount of Allergex and Panado syrup together and give her 2.5ml.
I know the Allergex will help for my daughters sinus as she sometimes wakes up with it.
But is it ok to mix the 2 syrups together and what is it actually for? They had also said that i can rub some Allergex syrup on my baby''s gums for the teething?

I just want to make 100% sure about this.

Thank you so much. Your advice is really helpful. Appreciate it.

Have a lovely day

Nadine

Thank you for your kind words.Allergex is not permitted for babies. It should not be mixed with Panado syrup either and certainly not rubbed onto your baby's gums.Allergex is an old-fashioned antihistamine that causes sedation. You can use a teething gel if necessary such as Teejel and massage this onto her gums with your little finger.
If your baby's nose is blocked just use infant saline nose drops such as Bennetts nose drops as needed.

Hi, im also confused now. I just got back from the cemist and they also told me i can give my 1yaer old boy alergex for his sinus, running nose. He has had flu on and off the whole winter and we have gone thru all the medicines available. Nothing seems to really work? 2 weeks ago we rushed to emergency unit at hospital with him. He was put on antibiotics and pro biotics etc. We completed the course with all the medicines. We even went and bought a nebulizer and a humudifier. Any advise out there?

If Allergex is not permitted for babies then why do doctors continuously prescribe it for babies and why does the insert say that you can give it to babiesover 3 months old??
