Good Morning Dr,

My 5 month old daughter had her first cold at the age of two weeks. She has ever since had a blocked and stuffy nose. The Dr gave her allergex, but that just made her sleepy, and is seems as if she has grown immune to it. I use a lot of Salex, but that has never cleared hernose. Sometimes the bridge of her nose is swollen and looks bruised.

A friend suggested an Anti-histamine.

Please help. she sometimes doesn' t drink her milk because she is so congested

It is highly unlikely that your very young baby's blocked nose is due to an allergy. Allergex is an antihistamine but is not permitted for use in children younger than 2 years of age because it is so sedating.I suspect that something is causing this severe nasal blockage possibly enlarged adenoids as she does not respond to Salex nose drops. Please ask an ENT specialist to see your baby.

I am a breastfeeding mom and my baby is 2 months old, I suffer from extreme Sinus, can I use Allergex or Sinutab with Codiene and still have the peace of mind that my baby will be ok?

Dear Daleen
I was advised by my pediatrician never to give my baby Allergex. He told me only ever to use Iliadin nasal drops/spray for baby' s blocked nose.
