Q.

Reflux

Good day My baby ia currently on Nexiam 5mg daily and Motilium.. Since monday i noticed a flare up in his reflux. Whenever i feed him he swallows a few times starts crying and spits out the milk. Do you perhaps know the reason for that? Then the hiccups starts. Is reflux painful? I am sooo tired! He is 12 weeks. Thanks doctor

It could be the Motilium that is causing your baby to start crying when he is feeding.  Nexiam reduces stomach acid, so he should not have discomfort from refluxing some of his feed back from his stomach into the lower part of his oesophagus (food pipe) Try him off the Motilium and keep him on the Nexiam. If he still has the symptoms that you mention above, please take him back to your paediatrician.
