Similac Alimentum is used for children who are allergic to cow's milk formulas. It does contain sugar and I cannot confirm whether it is lactose free or not. Your baby grandson appears to have the symptoms of lactose intolerance, rather than milk allergy. Try him on a low lactose comfort formula such as Similac Total Comfort and see if his symptoms disappear. He must only go onto the Similac Total Comfort if he is not definitely allergic to cow's milk.
