Q.

Itchy anus

My 2 year old daughter has an itchiness in the anus, took her to the doctor and prescribed protopic ointment 0,03% and vermox. Last night she would wake up crying wanting to scratch the anal area. Is there something I can do or use to relieve the itchiness?

It is almost certain that your daughter has a pinworm infection causing her anal itch. Do not apply Protopic to the itchy area as this will cause burning. Vermox is the correct treatment, the dose is 5ml twice daily for 3 days. Repeat the course after 6 weeks.
