Hematuria 6yr old update

Hey doc! Just another little update regarding my daughter. We started treatment on 21 March and we have not had any cases of gross hematuria since 14 March. The past 3 urinalyses (16 April, 25 April, 2 May) all came back completely clear and no blood or crystals present. I have allowed my daughter to be a bit more active but not overdo it. No sport yet. I don't know how the meds in SA compare but she is on Lithoren (to increase citrate levels in urine), Tarosin (to reinforce and help rebuild the tissues in the urinary tract), and a high dose of Vitamin C (also for pH balance and strengthening of the membranes). So far so good. Called her nephrologist today and asked where to from here. She said to continue the treatment for another 4 months. She wants to do a full 6 months of treatment and then we will reconvene and see where we stand. She will continue the treatment until September along with a low sodium diet and plenty of water. If this treatment does prove to be the answer we've been waiting for, then it was either a case of tiny kidney stones or thin membranes, or a combination of the two. The kidneys are so tricky to diagnose. You certainly helped me see this and you helped me tremendously with the information I needed to equip myself with knowledge so that I could better understand my daughter's doctors. Thank you again so much! About her tonsils (tonsil stones and one swollen tonsil), we are putting that on hold for now. I don't want to put her on any other medication at this time and I don't want to have them removed either. Taking medication like vitamin C when you've just had your tonsils out would NOT be pleasant. I might consult an ENT in the meantime but I will tell him straight off the bat that I'm not up for surgery or mixing and matching her treatments. She is not in any pain, there is no infection in her throat and I will be seeing her pediatrician tomorrow too. When we complete our treatment plan and consult with the nephrologist again, I would be happy to let you know the official diagnosis. Have a great day!
