Q.

Baby excessively coughing

So, the baby has had a cough for a month now. She has phlegm in the back of her throat I just can't seem to get rid of. I've tried giving her water, she sleeps with a humidifier, I leave a wedge under her, I've been giving her Zarbee's baby which replaces honey with agave, I've tried running hot water in the shower, and I've even gotten an oil diffuser with eucalyptus oil in the room. I have no clue what else to do, and I've been to her pediatrician's office 3 times already, I've even been to a different one and they tell me it's just a virus. What should I do to get rid of this cough?

You certainly have tried very hard to help your baby to stop coughing. What is of concern also is that you have taken your baby to the paediatrician 3 times without any improvement in your baby's cough. You do not mention your baby's age and I would also have liked to know if she attends a crèche. It is very difficult for me to be able to advise you about her cough without being able to examine her. Her cough could be due to any one of many causes such as a post-virus infection cough or whooping cough or persistent bronchitis or even be due to reflux. You do need a diagnosis in order to treat her correctly. I  am sorry, but I really feel it necessary that your baby is seen by a paediatric pulmonologist ASAP.
