Q.

Child drinking excessive water

My 3 year old boy asks for water more often for children his age, he has been doing this for the past year. Is this normal? He is healthy, eats well, gaining weight, takes Multivitamins and hyperactive.

Your son seems to be quite healthy, but drinking excessive amounts of water may be a symptom of diabetes in children. For this reason it would be best to have his urine tested for sugar (glucose). This can be done by your GP or your paediatrician or even at one of the clinics at Dis Chem or Clicks.
