Q.

Baby has flu

Hi doctor, my 7 months old is sick with flu. He has a runny nose, and sometimes it is blocked especially at night. He doesn't have fever. I once took him to the doctor when he was little, he was given Doctrim. I sent hubby to the pharmacy to get me Doctrim they are saying it is not good for the baby. What over the counter medicine can I give him - husband is telling me about Calpol, but he doesn't have fever. Please help doctor

The most important way to help your baby with his cold is to keep his nose clear of mucous. So use FLO-Baby saline nasal spray for your baby's blocked nose twice daily. If his nose is very blocked, you can also suck out the mucous from his nose using a nose suction device such as Nosefrida. If your baby does have a slight fever it will help to give him Calpol Syrup which is safe and effective.
