9 month old baby

My baby only weighed 2,28kg when she was born - however there were no complications. She picked up weight very well for the first 4 months. she weighted 5.3kg at 4 months. However, she went to the clinic again the other day and she only weighs 6.8kg at 9 months. Should I be concerned? The nurse said the main concern is that she needs to drink something during the day. ( she was breast fed and didn' t want to drink a bottle until now) I now try feed her all the time! Thank you.

Your baby daughter's weight has consistently been below average since birth. At 4 months her weight was on the 10th percentile line of the infant growth chart [the lowest 10% for baby girls of that age] Now her weight is on the 2nd percentile line for weight at age 9 months [the lowest 2% of baby girls of 9 months] So she has dropped to a lower line on the growth chart, in fact the lowest line on the chart. You do not mention whether she is eating solid food.I am also not sure from your notes whether she is getting milk during the day.In any case I am concerned about her present weight and would like you to ask her paediatrician to see her to be sure that all is well.

Thank you, for the answer. My baby is on solids yes - I started solids at 4 months. Because I had to go back to work and my baby didn' t want to drink from a bottle. However things are going really well now. She drinks from a bottle now and eats very well. I haven' t weighted her, but I can see she is picking up weight. I will however take her for a check up to her paediatrician. Thank you again.
