8 year old - aches and pains

My daughter is almost 8. About six weeks ago she had sinusitis followed by bronchitis. This is now cleared up except for an irritating cough when she goes to bed. She keeps complaining about sore arms and legs, a sore neck, sore throat and sore tummy in different combinations every morning when she gets up. The sore tummy can be as a result of fecal impaction, and I give her Pegicol to alleviate it. I took her to the paed last Thursday and he could find nothing wrong with her. He said between the ages of 6 and 8 they often have aches and pains, and just to treat it symptomatically. Should I just leave it at that and give her pain meds when I feel it''s necessary? And is the cough normal or should I take her to the ENT? She is partially hearing impaired so we always worry about anything that might affect her ears.

Your daughter's cough on going to bed is probably due to a post nasal drip. As he recently had sinusitis it is possible that this problem is continuing and when she lies down the infected mucous from her sinuses is causing the post nasal drip and the cough. She would benefit from seeing the ENT specialist about this problem. Her aches and pains complaints are definitely not usually found in children from 6 to 8 years. There must be a reaon for these complaints. They may have a psychological cause. Do they occur at weekends as well as during the schoolweek? If they don't then she may have a problem at school which is making her unhappy. She has been examined and nothing specific was found, so a psychological cause should be considered.
