8 week old infant cough

My 8 week old infant has been coughing for a week now. There is mucus on the chest. He has had the nebuliser treatment for 3 days and prelone for 5 days. Also bisolvin for the cough. His nose is not runny, I suspect its a post nasal drip. Is it necessary to go to paed? He is feeding well and sleeping. No fever.

It is very unusual for such a young baby to be coughing. Also this is not the time of year when coughs and colds are common and the likelihood of infection is rather low. In addition you mention that your baby feeds well and sleeps well and had no fever. So it sounds as if there is another reason why he may be coughing. The most likely cause in a baby of such a young age is reflux. Bisolvon is not recommneded. Your baby should be tested to see if he has reflux as the chances of this being the cause of his cough makes this very likely.
