8 months old Infant refusing to eat or take bottle all of a sudden

Dear Doc, my infant has been on a bottle from since he was born. We have been feeding him Infacare 1 and when he was 6 months we moved him to Infacare 2 which is follow up for Infacare and started introducing solids. His eating and taking bottle habits then changed, he was picky when eating and taking his bottle. With a gap of 4 hour feeds we thought this was normal. But he then became more and more fussy to not wanting to eat or suck his bottle at all. At the present stage we are lucky if out of 180ml bottle he sucks 80 ml only and then refuse to carry on. This is a huge shock to us, as he has no fever no vomiting or running stomach. He plainly refuses to eat or take his bottle it's a fight always when he must be fed. Multivitamin has been given with no luck, zinc supplement no luck also Ziplex Junior no luck neither seem to help in improving his appetite. Could there be something that's his system is telling us, must we consult a doctor? Its a very stressful moment in our lives. Please assist

Unfortunately you do not mention your baby's weight so that I can see if there is a problem that we need to concerned about or not. If your baby is a happy, healthy baby who is growing normally there usually is no need for concern. Many babies go through a stage where they are a bit less interested in their bottle for a time. Always offer baby his bottle before you give him any solids as at this stage of his life his milk is his most imporrtant source of nutrition. If he is still not interested in his bottle after another 3 days and especially if he is not gaining weight or even losing weight, he should be seen by his paediatrician.
