Q.

8 month old not eating

Good day I have an eight month old baby girl, about a week ago a dog jumped on her whereby she became hysterical. She refuses her open her mouth no matter what food she is given. Is this in any way linked to the incident regarding the dog or what can be done?

It is possible that she in some way links opening her mouth to the episode with the dog. She probably has not got over the fright that this event caused her. Is she taking her bottle normally? If she is that will give her a bit more time to get over this. Offer her a single solid as a start choosing the food she likes best. Even getting her to take one spoonful as a start will be an achievement. If she still refuses to take even one spoonful ask your paediatrician to see her for advice but more importantly to make sure that the dog did not hurt her jaw when it jumped on her or afterwards when she became hysterical.
