Q.

8 month+ but can't sit without support

Good day

My neighbour's son is more than 8 months and he can't sit without support. He is a big boy, weigh +/- 10kg. His mother took her to several doctors and they suggest scans which they say it is expensive. Other doctors suggested it might be TB of the spine. Please help for referrals and/or advice.

Paediatrician

I often find that big babies like this take much longet to start sitting. If he is not sitting by himself by the age of 9 months he should be seen by a paediatrician with an interest in developmental paediatrics. There are experts in all the large hospitals in the main centres in SA.
