6 and half month old - regular bowl movements

Dear Doc,

My baby boy is 6 and a half months old. Since birth he is on NAN Pelargon. We tried NAN first, but he was constipated and had reflux. The paed prescribed Pegicol for him and when I put the Pegicol in his bottle he has regular bowl movements. I stopped with the Pegicol for a while now, to see if he is better, but now he does not get a bowl movement for 2-3 days. When I start with the Pegicol again, he gets 1-2 dirty nappies every day.
I then decided to start him on solids (5 days ago) and I started with Pear, which he don'  t linke so today I will start with Butternut.
Will the solid food help him to get more regular bowl movements? He is not constipated and there seems to be no discomfort, but by the 3rd day he would not drink his milk like he usually does.
He sleeps very well at night and he is healthy and gaining weight.
Also, is Pegicol safe to give and how long can I continue to use it. I really want him to get regular bowl movements without any medicine.
