Q.

5yr old's hair falling out?

Hi there, my daughter's hair seems to be falling out. When should one worry....when it comes out in chunks...I know it's normal for one's hair to fall out when you brush it....but when is it not so normal and what could be wrong with her....she's had a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy exactly a month ago....could that be the reason??

This is a very common problem. It is important to exclude a fungal scalp infection as the cause of the hair loss and there are other conditions that need to be excluded as well. For these reasons your daughter should be seen by a dermatologist.
