5 yr old got sores that left black scar behind.

Good Day Dr.
I am very concerned, my son got these sores on his body it started out like a ringworm but, then it got raised edges which looked like one circular blister leaking puss and the skin in the centre of the sore was normal. the doctor gave him antibiotics and an ointment and it cleared up but now there are new sores appearing. also the sores leaves behind a black stainlike scar. and normally when he gets injured the scar tissue is lighter in colour than the rest of his skin. We are of dark complexion and he is 5 years old and generally quitte healthy. What could be the cause of these sores? also he was exposed to dettol undilited, for a whole afternoon at his aftercare and his bum got a black burnlike rash which also cleared up but left a black stainlike scar. Should I take him to a dermatologist? please advise.

thank you,

It is always difficult to be able to diagnoseyour son's skin rash without being able to see him, but from your description he appears to have had a rash called impetigo recently. This is caused by a bacterial infection, usually by strep or staph. This is why the doctor gave him an antibiotic. The new rash is puzzling especially as it leaves a dark scar. It is possible that he has a recurrence of the impetigo, but this does not usually cause a dark scar.A tick bite can leave a dark scab but then he would not have so many sores. It would be best to take your son to be seen by a dermatologist.
