Q.

4 year old - bed times

My son is 4 years old. At the moment we fight with him almost every night of his life to go to sleep. He goes to bed at 08h00pm. But, then he lies and plays with his toys for hours and hours. He has a night light, as he is very scared of the dark. Even when he is not playing with his toys in bed, he lies there, singing, talking to his self. He just does not go to sleep before 10h00pm at night.

Please help me to find a way to get him to sleep when he goes to bed. He is so very tired, and can never get up for school the next morning.

Please help somebody with some advise.

This is a very common problem. It is important that bedtimes are quiet times in your home with no loud TV or music.Read to him every night before he goes to sleep and then kiss him goodnight and leave the room. Do not give him any form of stimulant foods during the day such as caffeine in tea or Coke and no chocolate.
