Constipation is a very common problem, especially in formula fed babies. We often use lactulose syrup as a stool softener (laxative) to give symptomatic relief as needed. You may discuss this with your doctor or pharmacist.

keep him on milk till as long as possible preferably till 6mo.

With regards to the crying, probably has an anal fissure (crack).

For advice on this, please see the thread above "Crying when doing number2".

You shouldn't be giving your baby cereal at this age. Your baby should have milk only until 6 months. (preferably breast milk)

Hi,

You could try "rooibostea with brown sugar, maybe you should get something from the doc, or maybe change his milk.
