3 yr old swimming

Hi Doctor, compliments of the season to you and your family!!

As you know it has been hot in cape town so i have let my daughter swim with her dad till sometimes 19:30 in the evenings and have put a fan in her room which isnt facing her but just moving the air in the room. She has just turned 3.
This moring she woke up with a bit of a cold (nose a bit runny but clear and a post nasal drip slight cough). She has a water day at creche today - running in sprinklers, playing in plastic pools, shells, water guns and slippy slides so i just didnt have the heart to tell her that she cant go to school and swim and also she has a swim date tomorrow and Sunday. My question is if it is hot is it bad for her to swim with a bit of a cold?

Thank you and my best wishes to you and your family too. This is not the time of the year when children catch colds. It may be that your little girl's nose has been irritated by the chlorine in the pool. Use a Sterimar nasal spray twice daily to clear her nose. It would be a real pity to stop her swimming now.Even if she does have a bit of a cold it will not harm her to swim in the pool in this weather.
